Headline image for Minetta Tavern

Named after the Minetta Brook — which ran southwest in New York City — the Tavern was frequented by various layabouts and hangers-on including Ernest Hemingway, Ezra Pound, Eugene O’Neill, E. E. Cummings, Dylan Thomas, and Joe Gould, as well as by various writers, poets, and pugilists.

The original Minetta Tavern opened in Greenwich Village in 1937, and was renovated by Keith McNally in 2009. McNally, who also created Balthazar, Pastis, and Morandi restaurants, brings Minetta Tavern to DC’s fastest-growing arts and dining hub, just inside an alley off of Neal Place.
