SHE:DC is an initiative to illuminate women and non-binary entrepreneurs, powered by Shop Made in DC. In March, correlating with Women’s History Month, SHE:DC is taking over La Cosecha’s Balcon gallery space with 210 pieces from 180 women and non-binary artists. Join us for events including panel discussions, popups with emerging businesses and a pitch competition for the SHE:DC Microgrant.

Why SHE:DC?

  • Women need connection. We believe we make each one of these women stronger by connecting them with others.
  • 87% of our current makers and artists are women.
  • We are co-founded by a woman and woman-led.
  • We believe it’s our mission to continue to illuminate minority-owned businesses.
ABOUT THE MARKETS
Each weekend in March, SHE:DC will feature pop-up markets at the Georgetown and La Cosecha locations with emerging women makers.
ABOUT THE MICROGRANT
During the last event of the month, SHE:DC Micro-grant finalists will compete for a chance to win micro-grants for their business.  This year we will award (2) $1000 grants and a special $2000 Enterprising Women of Color: Women Making SHEstory Award sponsored by Washington Area Community Investment Fund (WACIF).  These finalists will be featured at the happy hour, where they will unveil their exciting ideas to the public by giving 3-minute flash talks.   Attendees can meet and mingle with these women and other enthusiastic locals while enjoying beer, wine and cocktails from women producers. The attendees will then choose the final recipients.
