“Syncopation” is a collaborative art exhibition created by Clarence James and Halim A. Flowers, featuring recent and historical works by both artists exploring identity, freedom and expression. A centerpiece of the show is the premiere of a new documentary co-produced by Flowers titled “Super Predator to Super Hero” that serves as an epilogue—nearly three decades later—to the Emmy-winning HBO documentary “Thug Life in DC,” in which Flowers appears as a young man serving a life sentence in prison.
